March on Albany

All Chiropractors are encouraged to attend our lobbying day on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.  The purpose of our day in Albany is to meet with our legislators and discuss the issues.  Appointments will be made with the legislators.  Small groups of participating chiropractors will have an opportunity to meet with their Senators and Assemblymen and discuss our legislative issues.

Details concerning the March on Albany:

Participants will meet in the Sign of the Tree Room at 9 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.  The Sign of the Tree Room is located in the concourse below the Legislative Office Building.  Convenient parking is located in the adjacent parking lots and it is a short walk to the Sign of the Tree Room.  All participants will need to sign in and then we will have an orientation meeting.  A light continental breakfast will be provided. Lobbying appointments will be scheduled from 10 AM through the mid-afternoon.  A lunch and debriefing session will begin at 2:30 PM in the Sign of the Tree Room.  We anticipate that all activities will conclude by 4 PM.
 
The Joint Legislative Task Force will charter busses that will run from the downstate area.  The busses will begin in Suffolk County and will work their way west, picking up participants in Nassau, parts of NYC and points north.  The bus will leave Albany at 4 PM.  A final bus schedule will be created dependent upon the number of registrants and the schedule will be announced as we approach May 1.  Please be sure to indicate on your registration form if you would like to take the bus.

Chiropractors who intend to drive to the March on Albany should anticipate arriving early to guarantee parking in the adjacent public parking lots.  Tuesday is “Lobbying Day” and many other groups may be in Albany on the same day.  We recommend car-pooling and arriving no later than 8:15 AM to assure a parking place in the nearest lots.
 
Take the New York State Thruway to I-787 South.  Take the Empire Plaza exit and follow the signs to the state legislative buildings. Maps of the visitor parking areas can be found at http://assembly.state.ny.us/directions/.  Take the elevators to the Concourse and then watch for signs to the Sign of the Tree Room, which is located near the security checkpoint.
