New York’s updated mandated reporter training includes additional guidance on identifying abuse or maltreatment of children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The completion deadline is November 17, 2026. This update applies even to mandated reporters who completed the training required by April 1, 2025.
Training opportunities offered in 2026
The NYSCA Education and Events Committee coordinated with Northeast College of Health Sciences’ Frank J. Nicchi School of Continuing Education to help make the updated training available. Training was offered through Northeast College and at the NYSCA Fall Convention.

NYSED states that individuals who completed mandated reporter training between November 1, 2022, and August 31, 2025, may complete a short addendum available through most approved providers. Check with your chosen provider about the appropriate course for your prior training.
