Arlington, Va. – The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and doctors of chiropractic nationwide will celebrate National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) this October with the theme “Joint Efforts.” Throughout the month, they will share information on how to support lifelong joint health through movement, nutrition, injury prevention and other healthy habits.

The human body contains more than 300 joints, which make it possible for us to move and do everything from completing daily chores and enjoying leisure activities to participating in exercise and sports. Maintaining healthy joints becomes especially important as we age, helping us to stay physically active and preserve mobility, independence and quality of life. Regular movement is one of the most powerful contributors to overall health and longevity.

Doctors of chiropractic help their patients improve and maintain joint function through an evidence-based, nondrug approach to health and wellness. In addition to hands-on treatment for common neuromusculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain and headaches, they provide guidance on exercise, injury prevention and healthy lifestyle habits that can help support joint health over time.

“Healthy joints are essential for staying active, independent and engaged throughout life,” said ACA President Kris Anderson, DC, MS. “During National Chiropractic Health Month, we want people to understand that chiropractic physicians provide evidence-based, nondrug healthcare, which can help them reach their goals by maintaining joint health, mobility, and function.”
